- The mounting surface material is not strong enough to support the direct attachment of an Attwood Springlift gas spring using a threaded stud
- The angle and position of the attachment point requires the need for a mounting bracket

The single tapered lip seal aactually compensates for wear as it occurs! Attwood's seal is molded with a steel insert to prevent the nitrogen gas from escaping and shortening service life of the gas spring.
